Reflect

I have always wondered why it is said that everyone is a mirror image of you. How can I see myself in others if I disapprove of what they say or do? Then I realized that, yes, it is true. What we think, feel, and do is also what they think, feel, and do. The content, the quantity, and the timing might vary. It is a reminder to look closely without judgment.

In today’s webinar, Marshall Goldsmith mentioned that looking in the mirror and seeing the problem is always better than finding it outside in others. That’s a sure way to grow and progress.

Instead of focusing on externalizing blame or “othering,” this method encourages self-reflection by asking yourself a set of tailored questions daily, often framed as “Did I do my best to…?” These questions are tied to your personal goals and values, shifting the focus toward your own efforts and progress.

Marshall Goldsmith’s Daily Question Technique is a simple yet powerful tool designed to enhance personal accountability and growth.

By regularly scoring yourself on actions like improving relationships, staying present, or achieving goals, the technique fosters a mindset of responsibility and intentionality. It helps you own your growth journey, emphasizing that real change comes from within, not from blaming others or external circumstances.

Some notes from the webinar.
